4 Year Old Shows Remarkable Progress with Occupational Therapy at Kailash Hospital Noida

Developmental delays in children are a difficult state for the child as well as for their parents. However, with proper intervention and therapy for these children, they can make significant progress towards their independence.

A child who was identified with developmental complications at the age of 4 years has shown significant improvement with specialized occupational therapy at Kailash Hospital in Noida under the expert guidance of Dr. Madhu Khurana, Occupational Therapist, along with Dr. Anshul Dhillon, Consultant Paediatric Neurologist.

Initial Presentation

When the child first came at the hospital:

  • Was not able to walk or talk
  • Had signs of developmental delay, such as problems with crawling, sitting, standing, or walking
  • Had seizures

The child was advised to undergo an MRI scan to check on his neurological condition. The child was given occupational therapy and medicine.

The child was then referred to a paediatric neurology clinic under the care of Dr. Anshul Dhillon. The child was then referred for occupational therapy. The child was then given Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT) therapy, which focused on physical and sensory problems. The child was also put on medication.

Treatment Plan

Under the supervision of Dr. Madhu Khurana and Dr. Anshul Dhillon, a personalized and structured plan of occupational therapy was developed.

This includes:

  • Personalized Occupational Therapy
    • Development of fine motor skills and hand coordination
    • Development of balancing, posturing, and muscle strength
  • Functional Skill Development
    • Development of daily activities such as feeding, dressing, and play
    • Development of sensory skills and response
  • Early Intervention Approach
    • Development of age-specific therapy sessions
    • Gradual development according to response
  • Parental Guidance and Home Program
    • Development of parental knowledge to follow therapy at home
    • Regularly assessing and modifying therapy goals

Outcome and Follow-Up

The child has shown remarkable improvement with continuous therapy and care in the following areas of his development:

  • Motor coordination and strength
  • Ability to carry out day-to-day activities
  • Independence level and playfulness
  • Better overall development milestones

The follow-up sessions are still in progress to monitor the child’s improvement and plan appropriate therapy for him. Parents are thankful to Dr. Madhu Khurana, Dr. Anshul Dhillon, and the rehabilitation team for their continuous support.
