A balanced diet in terms of calories, proteins, fats, carbohydrates, minerals, electrolytes and vitamins is essential for a healthy life. A proper diet provides daily requirement of nutrients to the body, thus enhancing the immunity of the person.

The Dietics Department at Kailash Hospital & Heart Institute strives to establish and encourage good nutrition practice and provide good nutrition care to the patients and normal individuals..
  • The department has a dietetics team consisting of four expert Dieticians
  • The dietetics team provides high quality dietetic service to the hospital patients.
  • Dietetics service is available to the patients 24 hours a day.
  • Diets are provided to the patients according to diagnosis of patients
  • The Dieticians remain active in patient's care and keep reporting the nutritional status of the patients as well as act as adviser to the Physicians and the medical team.
  • The Dieticians present a nutritional assessment of the patients that may include information specific to ideal body weight, history of weight loss, pertinent laboratory values and anthropometric measurement.
  • The diets are provided to the patients based on Science of Nutrition.
  • The Dieticians remain in touch with the patients and visit them twice daily.
  • The Dieticians help the patients understand the nature of the disease and the dietary influence and its management.

Normal diet, soft, semi solid, liquid, clear liquid diets and feeds - all based on the nature of disease - Diets provided to the admitted patients are complimentary.

Some simple dietic tips for a healthy life

  • Eat healthy to lead a healthy life
  • As age advances, eat less, exercise more
  • Make breakfast the largest and dinner the lightest meal of the day.
  • Be a nibbler, not a gourmet
  • Don't starve yourself and overeat subsequently
  • Include all colours of food in your diet.
  • Don't use excess salt
  • Eat your salad before you eat the meal
  • Eat fresh vegetables and fruits - avoid canned / tinned and preserved food.
  • Consume a variety of refined oils
  • Take 2-3 liter of water per day
  • Take exercise and walk half an hour daily.
